This is of the utmost importance! A lot of this memorabilia was aimed at and purchased by “kids” [eg.
those between the ages of 8 to16 years old] and let’s face it, that age group isn’t known for taking
exceptional care of their possessions.

It doesn’t help that no one could have predicted that these items produced during the 60’s  would be of
such value and desirability as they are today, some 40+ years on. It also didn’t help that many were
cheaply produced and simply not meant to last. Things were played with and got broken, simple as that.
This is why items in outstanding, near mint (NM) condition, fetch such high prices . . . there are simply
VERY few that survived the past 4 decades.

Another alarming trend in recent years has been the huge chasm in price range from simply NM [or MK-
20 scale] vs a true MINT condition item [MK-25]. NM prices are being substantially surpassed by absolute
MINT items, sometimes by double and even triple their NM counterparts.

A recent example of this was a blue, metal lunchbox & matching thermos made by Aladdin in 1964 that
was auctioned on eBay ®. The seller graded them as  9.5. That item closed at just over $2,800! This far
surpassed previous sale prices for this item in slightly lesser yet still very desirable NM MK-20 condition.
