There are well known reproductions of the the Beatles famous Yesterday and Today LP (otherwise known as the “Butcher cover”) that were made in Japan in the 1990’s and are very good copies. Both mono and stereo version exists as well to add to the variety. These LPs may be found either sealed in shrink wrap with a record inside (not a Yesterday And Today LP) or sealed without a record. Honest sellers will state that these are Japanese reproductions but here’s where “Buyer Beware” comes into play and why these pages will inform you of some tell- tale signs to identify legitimately issued butchers from copies. Not everyone in the hobby is as reputable as we would like to think or they may have been duped and wish to unload their mistake on you. As always, having an authentic first or third state cover for comparison purposes, although ideal, is not always practical. You may not own one at all which is the best reason!
